City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments)

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare Okay... so I have a lot to say about this book. First of all, I thought the whole Clary+Simon thing was really sweet. And then I was like WHATHEBLEEPSIMON :O HE'S DEAD. And when he was dying (the first time) that was pretty creepy. Then when he was dying the second time, I felt bad for him because be couldn't do the Jewish-words thing. And I'm not sure what happened what Jace brought him back to life(ish)...

Here's my theory: Simon was a mundane, until he died. Then he was reborn in a Jewish cemetery as a vampire. Then he died (again) as a vampire, from blood loss. But he was brought back to life when Jace gave him blood to drink (willingly). Because Jace is a Shadowhunter, his blood is the blood of Gabriel and all the angels, so technically Simon was reborn as a Shadowhunter-vampire mix (since vampirism is a disease, the Shadowhunter blood takes priority). That's why Simon could stand the sun, even though he still has some vampiric qualities (which could even fade over time if he continued taking Shadowhunter blood). I bet Simon could even open the doors of the Institute if he wanted...

more to come later.
